FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
Some of the questions you have may be answered here. If there's a question you need answered, not shown here, please contact David at david@drdavidmaloney.com
1
How much do you charge?
I charge €125 per session. I will meet with you for the standard 45 minute session. However, I never end a session prematurely if something significant comes up near the end.
2
Do you offer a sliding scale?
In general, I stick to the same fee structure for all clients. This is primarily due to the sheer volume of clients that seek help through the site. A standard fee means clients can get help based on a first come, first serve basis.
3
Do you work with insurance companies?
I do not work directly with insurance companies. I will, however, provide an invoice if you wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement from your carrier. Please check with your insurance provider about their reimbursement policies.

There are two reasons I don’t work with insurance companies. First, there is evidence that the involvement of an insurance company can complicate therapeutic outcomes. I want to make sure that I am working for you, not for a third party with a different set of motivations.

Secondly, as a solo practitioner, I simply don’t have the time to wrangle with insurance companies. Thus far, most clients who have submitted invoices to their providers have received reimbursement.
4
What about confidentiality?
Excepting situations in which I am bound to break confidentiality (for example, child abuse or the intent to harm someone physically) everything we discuss will stay between you and me.

All online sessions are end-to-end encrypted.
5
How many sessions should be needed?
If we decide to work together, the duration and frequency is entirely up to you. Some problems can be managed in just a few sessions. Some people choose to use therapy on an ongoing basis for a variety of reasons, such as managing complex difficulties or using therapy to continually pursue their highest potential.
6
Do you work with people outside of Ireland?
Yes, I work with people all over the world. I’ve helped men and women in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, the UK, Europe, China, Singapore, India, Japan, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, the Middle East, Africa — if you have a Internet connection and speak English, I can work with you.
7
How do we choose a session time if there's a time difference?
This is all handled for us automatically through the wonders of modern technology. When you book a session through the site, you'll be shown my session times adjusted to your own time zone. So, for instance, if you're in New York and you book a session for 5pm, the session will be held at 5pm New York time.
8
Can I book multiple sessions through your site?
Yes, you can now book multiple sessions at once through the site. I work on a first come, first serve basis. In order to schedule sessions frequently, I recommend that you book a few at a time. This will mean you can get the date/time that works best for you. In order to have regular sessions, you will only need to book a few at a time. Then, going forward, just remember to keep booking after each session.
After you book a session through the site, you'll be asked if you want to proceed to checkout or if you want to book another session. It's very straightforward.
9
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
To cancel or reschedule, you'll need to do this at least 48hours prior to the session time. To do this, log in to your account, click 'Manage My Session' and either cancel or reschedule to a better time for you.
